As indicated by the exploration anyway new media has emphatically affected youngsters in a great deal of positive manners the first being it causes them with look into in school work and getting some answers concerning different things that they might be interested about. Social destinations help to fabricate a closer connection among young people and their companions in addition to family members that might be far away. It gives speedy and modest correspondence when contrasted with calls and instant messages or making a trip to meet their companions and family members. It likewise assists with making new companions for young people that are normally modest and can't or discover it needed to make companions or associate with others truly. They get an opportunity to discover somebody to communicate with and converse with when need be. Causes them to see new innovation that is coming in and how to utilize it adequately. They are anyway likewise some negative manners by which new media impacts adolescents right off the bat being that in spite of the capacity to make new companions they are not dependable. This additionally brings about adolescents being presented to pornography and other unseemly pictures which later trigger things like pre-marriage sex and early pregnancies. Adolescents are additionally presented to a western lifestyle and will in general think medications and alcohols are a piece of life and on the off chance that you don't drink go clubbing or use media, at that point you get a handle on left and in reverse in time. Rather than packing in class teenagers are occupied on their telephones utilizing online networking or pondering what to state to who, their next Facebook or WhatsApp profile picture and status. It makes them languid and builds odds of literary theft as they should take a previously composed paper and simply change it than invest energy recorded as a hard copy a paper as opposed to on the web. Because of the numerous shortened forms utilized on social destinations the adolescents spellings are some of the time influenced and their language as well. It furnishes them now and again with an inappropriate data on their school work as well. It has likewise affected the manner in which they identify with their companions in that they have more opportunity to visit and thus it brings them closer. Most admit to their standards being bowed somewhat to fit in which may not, be that as it may, be an appositive thing, particularly If what they are fitting into is wrong and dangerous. I was additionally stunned to discover that their different adolescents that don't utilize any type of new media or social site and some that solitary utilize new media for school in this day old enough and time. This was because of guardians denying them access to it subsequent to seeing a decrease in their evaluations. Others were a direct result of their religion not allowing them to do as such or essentially not having any desire to do as such in the wake of being influenced by it adversely somehow or another. They said the was an expansion in their presentation because of this in class as they had more opportunity to concentrate yet anyway did not have a few companions and frequently got a handle on left. How Ballet Can Make You a Better Leader

How Ballet Can Make You a Better Leader Leading a company to business success is not an easy task. Therefore, it isn’t a surprise to encounter countless articles and studies examining the abilities and qualities successful leaders hold. The focus is often not only on accomplished business leaders, but also on auspicious individuals in other sectors. © Shutterstock.com | Eugene MynzulSurprisingly, a hobby that could hold the key to turning you into a better leader is ballet. It is time to explore 1) the origins of ballet and examine 2) the leadership qualities as well as 3) the abilities this 4) dance can teach a leader.THE ORIGINS OF BALLETBefore we examine the qualities and abilities ballet can provide to leaders, lets take a moment to understand the history of ballet. Indeed, once you look into the origins of this dance, you can see it has been attractive to many famous leaders of the past. The dance took its first steps during the Renaissance in Italy around 1500. The word ‘ballet’ has its origins in the Italian word ‘ballare’, which means ‘to dance’. The first dancers wore masks and restrictive and sumptuous clothing. The difficulties dancers had carrying these heavy and decorative clothes led to the dance developing as a form of small hops, slides and gentle turns. From Italy, ballet was brought to France when Ca therine de Medici married the King of France, Henry II. The dance developed greatly in the French ballrooms and it was especially favored under the reign of Louis XIV. According to historians, the king himself liked to dance around. This is indeed an early indication that leaders have found this form of dancing intriguing and helpful. It was under King Louis XIV, that the dance became a professional form of art. His thirst for talent meant ballet wasn’t simply a leisure activity, but a routine that required professional training. In 1661, the first dance academy dedicated to ballet opened in Paris and soon everyone, not just the noblemen, were able to experience a ballet show. The dance quickly spread, with two clear centers forming in Russia and France. These two countries have undoubtedly played a major role in developing the dance to its current form and glory. In the 19th Century, the Romantic Movement became reflected in ballet and the dancers began dancing on the tips of their t oes. It was also when wearing the tutu â€" calf-length, full skirt made of tulle â€" became the norm for ballerinas. In Russia, the popularity of ballet skyrocketed during the 19th century. Russian choreographers added a more classical technique to the dance and made the precision and elegance of the movement the key parts of a ballet display. Part of the quest for showing off the detailed footwork and movement meant the tutu was cut shorter, to its current form. The origins of ballet include a number of strong visionaries, such as Serge Diaghilev and Pierre Beauchamps. Under King Louis XIV, it was a way to highlight power and influence. In Russia, the dance was practiced as a guide to accomplished behavior and the dancers trained to perfection. It’s therefore no wonder the dance can enhance leadership qualities. Before you read about these leadership qualities and abilities that come with training ballet, you can watch this interesting introductory of the development of ballet over time. This YouTube video specifically looks at the pointe work: THE LEADERSHIP QUALITIES YOU CAN LEARN FROM BALLETSo, what are the leadership qualities you could take home from this wonderful dance?FocusBallet is an intense dancing style. If you’ve seen a ballet performance, you know that the dancers must be able to perform complex routines, often without moving away from their spot. This requires focus, as you can’t take your eye of the ball at any point. The same applies to leadership. You need to be present on the ‘here and now’ when making decisions. A good leader must have the ability to focus on the present, while remembering to look forward to the next part.Furthermore, ballet dancers need to focus on a number of details. The greatest dancers have to establish the right exercise routines, follow the right diet and live according to a correct lifestyle (no late-night parties for the professionals!). Creating the perfect performance requires focus on these little details .Similarly, a leader can’t focus on any single aspect of leadership. The focus must be on a selection of details, which help the team to strive forward.PatienceBecoming a world-class ballet dancer doesn’t happen overnight. Professionals often start young and craft their skills for years before reaching their full potential. The style of ballet is also subtle and gentle. The understanding of the movements takes patience and practice. Patience is a key to improve in both, ballet and leadership skills.Leadership skills are not achieved overnight either and ensuring success as a leader will require plenty of patience.PassionSince ballet requires hard work and attention to small details, you’ll need passion to stay on course to mastering it. Ballet is by no means an easy form of art, even though it can be relatively accessible. Ballet lovers and dancers tend to be increasingly passionate about their art and live and breathe it at all times. When you watch a breath-taking ballet perfo rmance, you can see the passion and emotion. You don’t simply stare at the performance; you feel it and live it together with the performer. The same passion is required as a leader. Since you are leading the team , you need to be able to excite others and maintain the same intensity even when things don’t work out as you planned.Leadership and ballet aren’t just about technical perfection. You can be an intelligent and skilful person, yet lack the passion to lead others. In fact, you might be perfectly capable of achieving financial targets, but business isn’t just about money. If you are passionate about the product and the service, you can reach these goals while genuinely improving the world around you.PerseveranceBallet performances require the team to work together. But occasionally, a dancer might miss his or her steps. But this doesn’t and it shouldn’t stop the performance. Other dancers need to persevere and keep going.Furthermore, ballet shows rely on dancers pe rformance â€" even when their mind might be somewhere else. The dancer must be able to set aside his or her emotions and provide the team with a stunning show. This is also what great leaders do â€" they persevere, even when the situation looks dark.As a leader, you’ll know your team is relying on your performance. You are the dancer that needs to show example and show up, even when you’d rather put your feet up and rest.DisciplineThe levels of physical endurance needed for ballet can take many by surprise. Ballerina Misty Copeland told in an interview that during the performance season rehearsals start at noon and last until almost six in the evening, after which you must prepare for the show. The exercise routine is rigorous and when you are preparing for a ballet show, you repeat the same movements over and over again. The same discipline to organize is crucial for leadership. You set the example and if you are lazy, your team will quickly follow suit. You are in charge of org anizing the routine, ensuring everyone in the team follows it and setting the example of hard work.Goal OrientationAs a dance style, ballet is goal oriented, whether or not you are aiming at the top level. Even beginners will set out goals, whether they are about learning a specific move or simply improving their physique. For professional dancers, the goals might be about joining a famous ballet group or learning the routine for the next show.Leaders must be goal-oriented as well. In fact, you’ll often need to work towards multiple different goals. These could be about launching a new product, increasing the revenue stream or reducing the operational costs. You should always aim for something, whether it is a big or a small target. It can help clarify the right path, and help you and the team to stay focused.CompetitivenessBallet is an elegant and romantic dance, yet the professional world of ballet can be brutal. The competition for the best positions within the industry is toug h. Without a competitive spirit, you are unlikely to dance at the Bolshoi Ballet group.Ballet also has to compete with other forms of entertainment. Ever since its invention in the courts of Italy, France and Russia, the dance style has tried to improve and reinvent itself in order to reach a new audience. Ballerina Tamara Rojo told the Guardian,“We’re constantly trying to expand our audiences and reach people that have never thought they would love ballet”.Ballet needs to fight for its audience, as well as to attract new dancers to join its ranks.A leader has to have competitive qualities as well. You need the hunger to reach the top and the appetite to maintain your position. Becoming a team leader in a company doesn’t guarantee you a place in the sun forever. In fact, as soon as you gain that position, there will be a long line behind you waiting for you to slip.THE LEADERSHIP ABILITIES YOU LEARN FROM BALLETAs well as helping with the above leadership qualities, you can a lso gain essential leadership abilities from ballet. The ability to multi-taskIf you’ve ever watched a ballet performance, you know that different things are happening at the same time. The dancers often need to be on top of what the other dancers are doing, while performing their own routine. But the dancer must also perform different choreographies with his or her hands and feet. This type of ability to multitask is essential for leaders. You’ll need to juggle different tasks at the same time. The focus must not be on just the big picture, but also the finer details. Furthermore, you aren’t simply just performing various tasks and scraping by, you are in fact, finishing it all with graze. The ability to deal with different peopleOne of the great aspects of ballet is its ability to bring together people from all walks of life. It’s a sport that attracts young dancers, but there are also groups for older enthusiast. Not to mention how ballet, as a form of art, has fans from dif ferent sections of society. For the dancers, aiming at the top of the profession, reaching the goal often requires them to travel to different parts of the world to train. Moving to a different culture and training with new people isn’t easy â€" good people skills are needed. In today’s interconnected world businesses are also gathering talent from different parts of the world. A leader has to be able to make everyone feel welcomed and find ways to use these differences as an advantage. The ability to let others shineBallet performance isn’t built around an individual performance. For the show to work and to impress the audience, everyone has to play their part. In ballet, you might be dancing at the centre of the stage in one minute and fall into the background the second.Whilst the performance has a lead dancer or two, every member of the group plays an important role in ensuring the performance is going to be a success. A dancer will need to know how to deal with their spot in the sunlight, but also how to support others with their time. The same ability to allow others to shine is crucial for a leader. You might be leading the pack, but you aren’t the only member of the team. In fact, the best leaders are often not the ones basking in glory, but who help bring out the best in other people. The ability to be presentIt’s hard to imagine anything more majestic than a ballet dancer striking a pose. Like we’ve mentioned above, the dancer can wholly captivate the audience and make them feel the passion the dancer has for his or her craft. The posture during the performance is all about the presence â€" the full stretch of the body, the expressiveness of the face ensures the dancer captivates the whole room with his or her presence. In a Huffington Post interview, Japanese ballerina Misa Kuranaga explained the importance of presence by talking about a performance that captivated her. She was watching a performance and felt radiating energy from a dancer, who wasn’t in a leading role.“The way she was performing on stage was so beautiful; she was giving everything she had for that moment, for those five minutes of demonstration,” Kuranaga said.A competent leader can stand out from the crowd in the same way. A leader must be able to capture the room’s attention, with authority, charm and passion. Leading isn’t just about saying and doing the right things; our communication is as much about the verbal cues as it is about the non-verbal cues.If you are looking to learn more about physical presence and its importance to leadership, ballet is a fantastic teacher. The ability to stay on your feetYou can understand the physical requirements of ballet, by simply getting on your toes for a few moments. If that seemed difficult, imagine maintaining the posture for hours, while also gliding around the room in an elegant manner. As well as requiring emotional perseverance, ballet dancers must be in shape. You need a strong body to withstand the physical stress, as well as the emotional drain long hours and disciplined routines can have. The same applies to leaders. The saying “a healthy mind in a healthy body” is a great rule to live by, especially as a leader. Leaders are required to work long hours, withstand the emotional stress and even jet across the country or the world. If you aren’t physically fit, all of this becomes harder. The ability to get things doneThe French King Louis XIV turned ballet into a professional art and the Russians transformed it into a military-like exercise. The dedication of the Russian choreographers and dancers added the effectiveness to this beautiful dance. In ballet, you need to follow your training to become excellent, you learn the routine to a performance, you go on stage, you dance your part, and you walk off the stage until you start the routine again.Leadership follows this same routine â€" the routine of getting things done. Leaders don’t have the luxury of analyzing ever y move for hours or discussing topics until dawn. Leaders must have the ability to know when to practice, when to perform and when to walk off the stage.DANCING TO BECOME A BETTER LEADERThe above qualities and abilities are essential to ballet and to business leadership. Ballet is such an eloquent display of what perseverance, discipline and hard work can accomplish. It highlights the essential aspects of leading, but also working as a part of a group. The ability of the dancers to focus and endure is something valuable every leader, who wishes to accomplish success, should study and learn from. So next time you go experience a ballet performance, remember to look at the show through a new lens.

Imports in Agriculture Essay - 584 Words

How many of you remember what you ate for lunch How many of you know exactly which country your lunch came from Over one-third of the food we eat is shipped from over seas and nearly another 1/3 comes for Canada, Mexico, and South America. nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; This is the reality; if you don’t raise your food yourself, you don’t know where it came from, or how it was handled. Chemicals such as DDT and Guthion are still used every day in less developed countries that the US buys food from. Toilets and sinks in the field are not even considered in these countries. It seems that if the USDA prohibited DDT and set up sanitation laws in the United States to protect the food we eat, then counties we buy food from should have the†¦show more content†¦nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;More danger comes to the American population in this time of war. The fact that over one-third of the food consumed in the US is shipped in from over seas makes it easy to cut off part of our food supply or contaminate it. A loss of imported food could cripple America in a grave way, by making us hungry or gravely sick. If terrorist are not afraid to contaminate our mail then what will stop them from contaminating our food What about all the food grown here in Oregon? Where does it all go? Over 80% of the crops grown in Oregon are exported. The sad truth is, commodities such as sweet corn, green beans, and peas are then imported into Oregon cheaper than they can be grown. Now, how do we solve this problem? Several options look as if they have a real potential for solving the problems at hand. The option I have heard from the most growers is only importing food into the United States when it is not in season here. This option will allow American agriculture to produce food to be consumed most of the year while keeping a friendly door open to trade. This would benefit the slumped economy through putting Americans back to work in the canneries; equipment manufacturing industries, the steel industries and the list of positives goes on. Another option maybe government subsidized farming. Though subsidizing farmers now being forced to compete on a global market would have the playing field leveled. This would benefit the farmers, but foodShow MoreRelatedMacroeconomics641 Words   |  3 Pagesfrom manufacturing, service sector and imports in this example and from no other source, while inputs into manufacturing sector come from agriculture, services and imp orts, while inputs into service sector come from agriculture and imports only. Evaluating the Advantages and Disadvantages free essay sample

According to my definition, it’s the act of total domination of a particular region and people, an unwanted guest. According to history, colonialism all begging at the early 18th century after the economy downside in Europe especially England, thus start the quest for making ends meet. They invade Africa like a swap of bees, unlawfully to explore the land through River Niger and River Benue. Their primary motives is to introduce new religion (Christianity), search for natural resources (Gold, Minerals, cocoa, human labor est. and to claim the grandeur by colonizing the territories. They were always hoping to transform our identity to a new one (positive and negative). This adventure leads the colonial rule to Africa to explore their raw materials and natural resources. Many a times, millions of people would question the motive of colonial rule as it finds its way to Africa. Could it be that its a new begging for Africans countries? Or it was only established to derail the grow th and development of Africa continent? Colonialism is beyond liberating Africa indigenes (civilization); most time, it comes along with slavery, lost identity ( Song of Lawino), deconstruction of the African people home, oppression (Gods Bit of Wood), loss of voice (Brother Im dying), alienation in one own land or territory, and moral degradation. We will write a custom essay sample on Evaluating the Advantages and Disadvantages or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Colonialism, a terrorist act: an act of dehumanizing follow being. However, colonial rule may change the culture, traditions, and values of African indigenes in a positive and negative way. The indigenous African people and its diaspora social life and economic value had been reshaped, transformed both negatively and positively by the effect or impact of colonial rule. As such, it creates a new dimension which defines their livelihood, government, moral value, religion and social health. Colonialism has its advantages and disadvantages effects. A combine effort and amalgamation of information from my log audit 1 and log audit 2 are fully incorporated in this final paper. Thus, this paper would evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of colonial rule in the life of Africans and its diaspora. I will analysis whether colonialism has created a constructive effect on the colonized. Colonialism processes some element of power superiority and most importantly, an avenue for social, political and economic undertone. There is of no doubt that the colonial masters have exploited the African indigenes of their right by damaging their culture and deconstructing their identity. Now, it’s crystal clear that colonialism is far beyond racism, segregation, lost identity. It involves pilfering, and drastically changes in living condition as lands and other survival resources were taken away by colonizers. Reflecting on Song of Lawino and Gods Bit of Wood, both books centered message is parallel but takes different dimension as to colonial economic exploitation. Okot b pitek book is a poetic song and dialogue between two lovers. Unlike Ousmane book, he writes an analytical narrative true life story. Okot, sees colonial invasion as a matter of racism, superiority and alienating self consciousness. Lawino lament is necessitated by the economic effect of Ocol imported idea which sabotages their relationship and the community in general. Okot b pitek themes often speaking of foreign processed foods in place of local organic foods (chapter 6 and chapter 10). The effect being that, it lowers the consumption of locally made food and promotes the importation of foreign food which negates economic growth and development. In contemporary era, western dance (colonial dance) is widely spread across Africa continent. Musicians are formally invited to perform on stage and shows; they demand huge ransom for this anti-African entertainment. Again, this activity demotes the economic growth of African and promotes the economic growth of western world (post-colonial master). It is a diseconomy of scale to the African people; they gave out more than they receive. Unlike Okot, Ousmane describe colonial rule as an economy venture. The analogy of human VS machine is one eminent factor that ignites the revolution movement in God Bit of Wood (Railway workers and their colonial masters). Treating human being like an object is a crime before man and the heavily God. The colonial master are regarded as â€Å"human† and Africans being the â€Å"machine† Not until I read Ousmane God’s Bits of Wood, that I came full circle that the motive of the white colonizer in Africa, it’s a quest for economic power and greener pasturethe advent of Rail way system to transport good to the closest sea for export. Workers are been under paid, water supply been cut off as strike begins. We see all this diseconomy activities going on in God’s Bits of Wood, as Bakayoko Ibraima, Tiemoko, Konate alongside substantial women like Assitan, Niakoro including children all fight for economic freedom. Colonialism is an act of evil that is perpetrated under the umbrella of religion. Reading through the lines in God’s Bit of Wood, I hear the voice of hungry men, women and children as they fight fervently for their social status. Colonial rule claim missionary mission yet practiced satanic act of enslavers. That been said, the colonial master stool our pride, culture, identity, language and export our people abroad like a finished product being shipped out for consumption. I agree with both authors as they lay emphasis on the negative effect of colonialism. On contrary, colonial rule pursue a sense of unionism and power of collectivism in colonizes. . On balance, colonialism can be good in a way. I can argue that colonialism was the machinery for modernization in the colonies. Looking beyond the negative effect, Africa probably benefited from colonialism on the other side. I see colonialism as a most likely one of the most effectual engines for cultural diffusion in the universe history. These views however, can be controversial and subjective in nature depending on which angle you are looking at it. The notion of colonialism might have had limited effects or influence, provided it doesn’t rely too much on force. A vivid example is Nigeria, a country divided in culture and language. Before it was name Nigeria (people living around the Niger River) we have different ethnic groups with divided orientation. The coming of colonial master in the Niger area amalgamates the settles to become one big entity called Nigeria today. On the economy advantage, there is a tendency for rapid growth in an economy with lager population as human wants are insatiable. We see this phenomenon in Sugar Cane Alley, where Ma-tina, Medouze, Carmen all supports Jose in one way or the other. Ma-tina provides parental, moral and financial support for Jose, just to see him climbing the leader out of sugar plantation. Old Medouze encourage and instill wisdom and knowledge in Jose as he uses it to write an excellent essay in class which he was accused of plagiarism. Carmen is of collective support as he often help Ma-tine and Jose when he get admission to high school.

The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling Review

'The Jungle Book' by Rudyard Kipling Review The Jungle Book is one of the works for which Rudyard Kipling is best remembered. The Jungle Book falls in line with works like Flatland and Alice in Wonderland (which offer satire and political commentary underneath the genre title of childrens literature). Likewise, the stories in The Jungle Book are written to be enjoyed by adults as well as children- with a depth of meaning and symbolism that delves far beyond the surface. Relationships and events related to The Jungle Book are important to any human being, including adult men and women, with or without families. While the tales can be read, or children may listen to them from an older reader, these stories need to be re-read later, in high school, and again in later adult life. They are enjoyable in every subsequent reading and the longer one lives, the broader is the frame of reference one has against which to draw the stories into perspective. The Kipling stories offer a marked perspective of a reminder of human origins and history as well as animal. As the Native American and other Indigenous Peoples often state: All are related under one sky. A reading of The Jungle Book at age 90 will reach several more levels of meaning than a childhood reading and both are just as brilliant an experience. The stories can be shared inter-generationally, with interpretations shared by all. The book is a group of stories that are actually quite good for â⠂¬Å"Grandparents in the School† types of family literacy programs of the current day. Importance of the Tales Kipling is still much quoted, via Gunga Din and his famous poem â€Å"IF,† but The Jungle Book  is also important. They are important because they address the prime relationships in one’s life- family, coworkers, bosses- and everyone’s relationship with Nature. For instance, if a boy is raised by wolves, then wolves are his family until the last one dies. The themes of The Jungle Book revolve around noble qualities such as loyalty, honor, courage, tradition, integrity, and persistence. These are good to discuss and ponder in any century, making the stories timeless. My favorite Jungle Book story is of a young mahout and his elephant and the legend of the elephant dance in the middle of the forest. This is Toomai of the Elephants. From wooly mammoths and mastodons to our zoological parks, to the Elephants Sanctuary in the American South to Disney’s Dumbo, and Seuss’s Horton, elephants are magical creatures. They know friendship and heartache and can cry. Kipling may have been the first to show that they can also dance. The young mahout, Toomai, believes the tale of the infrequent event of Elephant Dance, even when the seasoned elephant trainers try to dissuade him. He is rewarded for his belief by being taken to that very dance by his own elephant, spending time in another world that few can enter. Faith makes entrance possible, so Kipling tells us, and there is the possibility that childlike faith can be translated to any number of human events. â€Å"Tiger-Tiger† After Mowgli left his Wolf Pack, he visited a Human village and was adopted by Messua and her husband, who both believed him their own son, previously stolen by a tiger. They teach him Human customs and language and help him adjust to a new life. However, the wolf-boy Mowgli hears from Grey Brother (a wolf) that trouble is afoot against him. Mowgli does not succeed in the Human village but makes enemies of a hunter, a priest, and others, because he denounces their unrealistic comments about the jungle and its animals. For this, he is reduced to the status of the cowherd. This story suggests that perhaps the animals are more just than Humans. The tiger Sheer Khan enters the village, while Mowgli takes half his cattle to one side of a ravine, and his wolf brothers take the rest to on the other side. Mowgli lures the tiger into the middle of the ravine and the cattle trample him to death. The envious hunter broadcasts that the boy is a wizard or demon and Mowgli is exiled to wander the c ountryside. This certainly shows the dark side of human beings, again suggesting that animals are nobler creatures. Other Favorite Tales Other favorites from this collection are â€Å"The White Seal†, the tale of a Bering Sea’s seal pup that saves 1000s of his kindred from the fur trade, and â€Å"Her Majesty’s Servants†, a story of the conversations heard by a man among the camp animals of the Queen’s military. The entire collection observes mankind from a stance of needing improvement that is possible if they listen to animal wisdom.

Compare and contrast two Middle Eastern civil wars, such as Lebanon, Essay

Compare and contrast two Middle Eastern civil wars, such as Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, or Libya - Essay Example Through associate degree analysis of various cultural constructions, the conflict that passed off throughout the war has helped in Lebanon’s healing method (Horowitz 2008, 217). In Syria, President Bashar Al- Assad took power in the year 2000 immediately after the death of his father Hafez that had dominated Syria right from 1970. President Assad hastily dotted hopes of political reforms, as the power remained targeted within the ruling family, and therefore the system of one party gave few avenues for political opposition. With lack of nonviolent transfer of leadership since the Fifties, amendments will only happen solely through a military coup or a well-liked struggle. This report, will explain the similarities and differences of the civil wars in Lebanon and Syrian states in the Middle East and their roles in bringing political reforms in the respective nations. The vicious loop of enhanced sectarian attitude, escalating sadism and out of doors support has up to now, prevented any serious attempts to resolve the conflict between the war-ridden factions in the Syrian nation (Leenders & Heydemann 2012, 142). The government and the opponent deny one another as conflict partners in an exceedingly competitive struggle however regard each other a vital enemy to tumble or destroy. Anassessmentof Lebanon provided that sectarian as well as ethnic identities had changed into settled markers for violence and thrown the nation into a destructive war (Sambanis 2004, 823). The main issue is if a power-sharing approach that resembles the one efficiently employed in Lebanon can be suitable in making sure the war in Syria is ended. Opponents to the idea the application of the Lebanon model to Syria argue that the two nations that are characterized by social compositions of a sectarian nature have administrative arrangements that are incommensurable (Ghosn & Khoury 2011, 381). The area is the foundation of the three most

Globalization (Extended Analysis) Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Globalization (Extended Analysis) - Essay Example Moreover, it never realized that state alone could not produce enough of wealth without people participation willingly – not forcefully. Also, it failed to understand that non-efficient or laggards could not be equated with efficient and committed workers in terms of rewards. Capitalism by its very philosophy rewards those who contribute most in the wealth generation. It is also true that communism did thwart the process of globalization at least until 1989 when the entire communist bloc, in principle and practice, collapsed completely across Europe and other parts of the world. It is obvious that when one political system or ideology – especially, when it has generated a great deal of hopes, fails miserably; people begin to look at other political system – ignoring whatever shortcoming it may have and that is what precisely happened. Capitalism bulldozed the old rotten ideas of socialism completely and began spreading its wings across most part of the world. It is perfectly fine to state that capitalism and globalization, in last two decades, went ahead neck to neck. Though the failure of communism is certainly one of the reasons for giving a way to globalization but it is equally true that technology and internet has been instrumental in accelerating the pace of globalization. It is because of the internet that messages get transmitted from one end to another in few seconds without any help from postal or courier services. Due to this, peoples across the world with different cultures, creeds and races have started feeling much closer than ever in the history of mankind. People need not move from one country to another for accomplishment of any task. A capital transfer from one country to another is virtually instantaneous without any inhibitions. Currency markets are now working round-the-clock and capital moves from one country to another just by click of a mouse. The fact remains that, if any country refuses to acknowledge or participat e in this process then it is certain to bring misery for its people. All said above, it should never be construed that globalization is a panacea for all evils. Barber correctly argues, â€Å"The collapse of state communism has not delivered people to a safe democratic haven† (29). According to Barber, the world is now racing ahead with Jihad and McWorld side by side. He further argues that Jihad and McWorld are not important in themselves; however, their relationship is important because anarchy rules them both. Both lack conscious and collective human control. Barber opposes both Jihad and McWorld equally. While Jihad emerges from narrowly conceived faiths that belie mutual dependence and social cooperation of people for growth and stability, McWorld tends to develop colonizing culture. Barber may be true in acknowledging that jihad is prospering in some parts of the world in last few decades but it is not an outcome of globalization. It is technology that has facilitated t hem. Further, I do not agree with him that both are interdependent. Globalization has more to do with economic system or free market economy that rests on efficiency of operations and comparative advantages of the nations. The proportion of â€Å"Jihadis† is very small compared to the total global population and majority of the world population do not

Later CAPL started providing other functions like Check in, Baggage Tracer, Cargo acceptance and unitization, Flight Dispatch, Weight Balance, Ramp, Cabin Appearance, and Clearance of Company Stores Mail. Cambata Aviation is the member of the International Air Transport Association Ground Handling Council (IATA-IGHC) and approved ground handling company. At present CAPL is the only independent and private ground handling agency in India with IATA-JAR-OPS Service Level Agreement. Currently Cambata handles more than 30 international airline operations across India. The objective of CAPL is to provide highest standard of services to all the international customer airlines and to attract new airlines towards company. The services provided at CAPL are world class keeping in mind the safety and security in operation is the aim, which is the base of aviation industry. This business plan is about the expansion of the company to start ground handling activities for domestic airlines, private airlines and non-scheduled airlines as well as to provide new and innovative value added services required by the international customer airlines and purchase of new own equipments like Push back tractors, belt loaders, cargo dollies and loaders, Ground Power Units, Passenger stairs, baggage carts, wheelchair lifts and Ambulift etc. to become pioneer in the ground handling services in India. The main purpose behind this expansion is to capture whole domestic market. Since we have certain international airlines that operate twice or thrice a week so we can utilise our workforce for domestic operations as well. Day by day domestic airline market is roaring up, in the year 2006-07 there were 3 new airlines that started their operations. The Market Situation Currently Aviation industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the world, India is no exception. Earlier times at airport, airline companies used to employ their own employees but now most of the airlines ask the ground handling agencies to look after their all flight movements. This is the cost-effective basis for airline companies. Mumbais Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) is Indias and South Asias largest and most important hub, handling more than 25million passengers and 533,593 tonnes of cargo. Between April 2006 and February 2007, CSIA handled 180,000 landings and take-offs and over 20 million passengers with around 6.73 million international passengers and around 13.65 million domestic passengers. As compared to the year 2005-06 passengers growth rose to 21.28%. From above statistics we can figure out that domestic sector of the Indian aviation is also coming up rapidly. Most famous domestic airlines are Jet Airways, Kingfisher Airlines, Spice Jet, Go A ir and Indigo. In case of domestic airlines there are only two ground handling agencies. At present in Mumbai there are 5 ground handling agencies namely National Aviation Company of India Limited (NACIL), Cambata Aviation, Air works India, National Aviation Services (NAS) and Globe Ground India. Among all Cambatas services is one of the best. This can be proved by the number of international airlines customers Cambata has. At Mumbai Airport Cambata handles more than 15 international passenger airlines, more than 6 cargo airlines and quite a few non-scheduled airline movements as well. Now Cambata will eye on the new entrants at Mumbai airport by introducing some new services along with ground handling. We can say that, at the time Cambata has a very good position in the ground handling market in India. It can be seen by following figures: Mission And Objectives: Every company has a vision and mission, basically mission means an exercise where all the employees of the company follows an organisational culture to work together to work towards the desired results. But I think vision is more important because it helps the company to determine the future. It serves as concrete foundation to the company. Cambata Aviation will be the most preferred Ground Handling agency in India. It will be the first choice handling agency for the international and domestic carriers, which other ground handling agencies will seek to match. Cambata Aviation will achieve this pre-eminent position by offering a high quality of service and safe, reliable and efficient operations on behalf of the airline company. Cambata will achieve these objectives at the same time ensuring consistent profitability, creating goodwill, satisfy employees and important of all satisfying customer airlines. Objectives: 1) To introduce ground handling for domestic, private, cargo and non-scheduled airlines in coming two years. 2) Acquire new equipments to provide 100% own ground handling support at the airport. 3) Provide better and innovative services to our international customer airlines. Keys To Success: 1) Thorough and stringent induction training for the employees to help them understand the responsibilities towards daily activities keeping safety and security as the motto. 2) Improving established practises of the company. 3) Maintain good relations with the customer airlines by providing best services all the time. Company Summary: As mentioned above Cambata Aviation is one of the oldest ground handling agency in India. It started in 1967 at Mumbai. Later operations of the company spreads across India, in 1972 we started our operations in Delhi and then Chennai, Ahmadabad, and Pune. CAPL looks after different operations such as passenger handling services like check-in, baggage handling, aircraft cleaning, security, ramp handling, flight despatch operations, weight and balance etc. Further company is divided into five departments namely accounts and marketing, Personnel, Passenger handling services and Human resources, cargo and ramp operations department. Accounts and marketing department looks after companys income and expenditure, bills receivables, bills payables, salaries of staff etc. and marketing of our services among new entrants. This department plays an important role in growth of company by controlling costs and increasing revenues. Start Up Expenses: Since our company is well established company we dont require raising money to cover certain expenses but as we have to complete certain formalities we need some capital. Following chart will give the description of Start up Expenses. Marketing Plan: Cambata Aviation is well established company but now we have to expand our business to provide ground handling facilities to domestic sector airlines, private airlines in coming two-three years. Also to expand the current functions we have to acquire new equipments. We need to use different strategies to expand our business to operate on domestic sector. Important thing is we have to obtain permission from Airports Authority of India and Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) to act as an authorized ground handling agent. Currently there are only two ground handling agencies operating at domestic terminal. Our agency is the oldest one so introducing ground services at domestic terminal would be easy. As like international operations we can provide service to domestic giants. Our target customers would be emerging airlines, existing small airlines that lacks in professional skilled workforce, and new entrants in the international and domestic markets. Basically new airlines lack in skilled workforce, equipments and they have to invest lot of money in training of employees and acquiring new equipments. Here we can use our goodwill and offer ground handling services to them. We have trained workforce with proper experience and knowledge in this sector. We feel that our well trained employees will generate more goodwill by providing world class services with well maintained equipments. Market Segmentation: 1) Unsatisfied Airlines: We hope to obtain positive response from the airlines like commercial, cargo airlines that are dissatisfied with their current ground handling agency. 2) New Entrants: We can target new airlines that just started their operations. 3) Non-scheduled , Private Airlines: We can target non-scheduled aircrafts and most importantly private airlines. It will be very easy for them to hire the services for particular time and number of private airlines is on rise which can provide us a good advantage. Market Segmentation Market Needs: Due to intense competition many airlines started reducing the fare prices and cutting off other expenses. By handing over the airline operations to ground handling agencies they can cut off some of their expenses on employees. There are several airlines flying to Mumbai that are not satisfied with either the quality of the service or the poorly maintained equipments provided by their ground handling agency. Flights which we handle with our well trained workforce at all levels and well maintained equipments will confirm their dissatisfaction with our competition and generate new business for us. Almost all the airlines whether international or national require high quality of professional services with well maintained equipments. Because most of the airlines are of turnaround type they depart back within 2-3 hours after the arrival, in that short time ground staff has to work very hard because lots of activities needs to be carried out right from aircraft cleaning, catering, refuelling, baggage loading and unloading etc. Only efficient workers can do these activities fast. Cambata Aviation is well known for its efficient and world class services and because of that it handles more than 15 international airlines operations at Mumbai. We hope this awareness will generate goodwill for us and generate better opportunities as well. In short, demand for ground handling services agencies is increasing. So we should concentrate on our marketing activities, professional services and try to grab the new contracts. Market Trends And Market Growth: The cut throat competition among all the airlines resulted in the global fare cuts. Fare cuts are affecting airline companys revenues. It can be noticed that other expenses related to food and in flight service are decreased but ground handling expenses are steady. In order to cut off cost and raise revenue most of the airlines started outsourcing the major operations to the ground handling agencies. In short to cut off expenses such as training, acquisition of equipments, salaries of the staff at airport; airline companies outsource the operations of airline to ground handling agency which helps to create immense demand for the ground handling agencies. Also most of the airlines know that efficient ground handling helps to improve aircrafts productivity and generate more revenues. Due to such cost cutting measures adopted by most of the airlines, ground handling providers market is growing day by day. New global ground handling agencies are trying to start their business in India. In earlier days there were only 3-4 ground handling agencies, and now number increased to around 10. Major Competitors: 1) National Aviation Company of India Limited (NACIL): We can consider NACIL as our main competitor, being a government owned company it gets lot of benefits. Although their quality of service is not good enough still they handle around 10 international airlines and 2 domestic airlines. This is mainly because its a government owned company. NACIL has all owned equipments so they gain an upper hand as compared to other agencies in the market segment. 2) National Aviation Services (NAS): NAS has recently started their operations at Mumbai Airport. NAS has its base in Kuwait. Currently they are handling 3 international airlines and looking forward to start ground handling at domestic airport too. 3) Air Works India Limited: Air Works India is also an old ground handling agency. They mostly look after operations of Private Charter flights, they are specialised in providing services to private aircrafts. They also have their own helicopter services. Strategy And Implementation Summary: In order to gain good position in the aviation industry CAPL always try and use new strategies. CAPL always keep their staff updated with the latest technology and equipment knowledge. Cambata is well known ground handling agency in India, because of its professional and timely services. Competitive Advantages: 1) Professional Workforce: We always kept our standards at high level; our staffs undergo rigorous training after every 8 months. CAPL training modules aimed to ensure world class services and achieve the set safety and security standards in all our operations such as Passenger services, ramp handling, load control, flight operations, mishandled baggage, aircraft cabin cleaning, cargo documentation. This helps our company to grow and reach soaring heights. 2) Overall Handling Of An Aircraft Movements: Though we dont have all owned equipments we provide all the services to an aircraft from the moment aircraft touches down till airborne. Currently we have four push-back tractors, four ground power units, and important of all we have our own hanger which we can rent out in case if any aircraft needs to carry out maintenance activity. 3) Flight Report Control System (FRCS): Ours is the only ground handling agency that developed FRCS. It was developed with an aim to keep high level of productivity, vigilance and service standards. FRCS helps both the airline company and our management to keep an eye on the level of service. FRCS has to be filled up and acknowledged by customer airline duty manager. Management can use these flight reports in order to raise the standards of the company. 4) Safety And Security Manuals: Cambata has developed its own security manuals which we use for our security training sessions. Our security manual has been approved by Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), India. This enables to reduce the frequency and severity of accidents causing personal injuries and aircraft ground damage. SWOT Analysis: SWOT analysis means analysis of our companys Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats. SWOT analysis helps to uncover the opportunities which we are looking for. And helps us to understand the weaknesses by which we can eliminate threats. Strengths and Weaknesses are the internal factors and opportunities and threats can be considered as external factors. It is a useful tool which can be use to analyse the position of the company in the market. In case of our company, following is the SWOT analysis of Cambata Aviation. Strengths: 1) Strong Brand and Reputation: Cambata Aviation was established in 1967 in Mumbai. It is well known ground handling agency in India with more than 30 customer airlines across India. 2) Certification: Cambata Aviation is the only independent and private ground handling agency in India with IATA-JAR-OPS Service Level Agreement. It is a member of IATA Ground Handling Council (IATA-IGHC) and also an approved ground handling agency. 3) Good Relations: After serving the international giants like British Airways, Qantas, Cathay Pacific, Alitalia, Air France etc we have very good relations with international airlines and domestic operators as well like Jet Airways for whom we look after ramp activities. 4) Professional Management And Employees: We have a team of professional experts in the aviation industry. Also we provide overall training to our employees in order to keep them updated with latest technological knowledge. 5)Location: We enjoy the benefit of our location as we have our base in Mumbai the economic capital of India. Being an economic capital people from different parts of the world visit Mumbai resulting in more international flight movements in Mumbai and we can use our professional expertise to get the contract for ground handling of most of the airlines. Weaknesses: 1) Absence Of International Branch: We are pioneer in the ground handling services in India. But we are missing the opportunities which are generating at the ‘hubs across the world. 2) Government Restrictions: Being a private company we dont have freedom in certain areas. We have to obtain proper permission from government authorities in order to start the new activities at different airports. 3) Insufficient Equipments: We lack in ownership of some equipments, which we need to hire from other ground handlers. Opportunities: 1) Developing Market: Aviation industry is growing at very fast pace. Lots of new airlines are coming into the market. We can grab the opportunities by approaching new entrants in the Indian skies. 2) New Market Segment: In India domestic aviation and private airlines activities are on rise. Domestic market is also growing very fast; new airlines are setting up their operations. We can expand our operations or services to become a giant in ground handling in both international and domestic airlines market. Airlines like Jet Airways and Kingfisher also looking forward to start international services if we provide ground handling at domestic level then obviously we can operate as their ground handling agent for international operations. 3) Ineffective Competitor: We can attract other airlines that are not happy with their ground handling agent, because of poor services. Threats: 1) New Competitor: National Aviation Services (NAS) Kuwait based ground handling giant has entered in the Indian market. Because of its global presence airlines may attract towards NAS. NAS operates as a ground handling agent for some of the airlines in Kuwait. 2) Price Wars: After the economic downturn many airlines are discontinuing their services to cut the costs. Some of the competitors like National Aviation Company of India Limited (NACIL) a government owned agency have cut the cost to attract other airlines. This could be a possible threat. 3) New Government Policy: As per new government policy only three ground handling agencies can operate at Mumbai airport. Out of that one is government owned NACIL and other two are undecided. In such circumstances we can lose our separate entity and forced to merge with other agency. Project Plan: We will need period of two years to expand the operations. Also we are planning to purchase new equipments. We can assume that after two years we can increase our profits by providing ground handling services to most of the airlines. As our main objective is to capture domestic airlines ground handling market and increase our market share in international airline ground handling market we will work hard in coming two years and grab the market share. We are expecting to achieve the said mission by proper vision in next two years. We have to invest more in our marketing and human resources for better and fast results. (Figure showing various activities carried out by Ground Handling Agency) Sales Forecast: Sales forecast shows our estimated ground and ramp handling, equipments usage, hangar usage revenue. We have a very good relationship with airline companies and many of them have expressed their interest in hiring our services. Management Summary: A strong management team is the heart of any business. Cambata is no exception; we have a very strong management team with wide experience in aviation industry, working to raise the standards of our company. Our management policy is to provide better environment to our staff wherein they can be challenged and stimulated to provide effective and better solutions that meet our customer airlines needs. Promoters And Directors: Late Mr. Kershi S. Cambata was the founder of Cambata Aviation. He was holding a Private pilot license and was ex-Royal Force personnel. He was also a pioneer in Aerial crop spraying business in India. Mr. Nelson K. Cambata- He is a trained pilot holding private pilots license. He acts as a Chairman and Managing Director of the company. He has specialised experience relating to all aspects of ground handling and management. Mr. Sarosh J. Contractor- Mr. Contractor is an Executive Director for Operations. He is a finance graduate holding 36 years of experience in Banking, Airline and ground handling industry. He is responsible for the day to day affairs of India operations. Mr. Burjor N. Nicholson- Mr. Nicholson is also an Executive Director for Finance. He has completed graduation in accounts and finance field and holds 38 years of experience in aviation industry. Above mentioned management team is at highest tier. Further tier consists of Airport Manager, Personnel Manager, and Departmental Managers or head that controls day to day operations at airport. This entire team is highly experienced and qualified in the aviation industry. Management Hierarchy: Personnel Plan: As Cambata is established company currently we have 3 personnels at Directors level. Under them we have 5 Airports manager. But in future we have to increase the number in order to divide the work properly. Our projected Personnel Plan is as follows: Companys success depends upon its employees. Now we want to expand our company so we will need more employees. Having professionals at particular place will help the company to form a solid foundation. Following data summarizes increase in our human resources. Year wise increase in Human Resources (Projected) Financial Analysis: Finance department of the company acts as a watchdog over company expenditure. It makes sure that all our operational activities are funded. It may be possible for a company to fund all the activities from operations, but certain times company may need to turn to the capital market for finance. Company has certain outside sources of money like current debt, bonds, loans etc. For all these activities we need to raise around $5 million in loans. As mentioned above we have to expand our services and also to acquire new equipments which will require huge sums of money. To begin with we have to raise money through loans and some long term investments. There are certain assumptions on which we have to rely on. General Assumption: Break Even Analysis And Costs: Break Even Analysis is calculated where total revenue received by a company is equals with the total cost associated with sales. Our fixed cost consists of rental for our hangar to Airports Authority of India, equipments routine inspection and maintenance cost, monthly fuel cost. In order to provide better service we should have our owned equipments. There are number of equipments available in the market and behind one movement of an aircraft we require almost all equipments such as tow-bars, push-back tractors, unit load device, ground power unit, baggage loader, cargo dollies, forklifts etc. These equipments are very diverse in varieties and expensive. Cambata handles more than 5 airlines at peak time so we require more equipment. It can be seen that we have to invest huge amount of money in equipments. Other costs include training activities conducted by our company. We provide training to our employees after every 8 months with updated topics. In order to get better productivity we have to invest some amount in training and development of employees. Revenue: Following table gives an idea about Revenue generated from Ground handling of single aircraft, equipments rental and hangar rental: As mentioned in the above chart, we provide ground handling services to more than 18 airlines; out of those some airlines operate twice a day daily, some operates just thrice a week. Cambata operates around 1200 arrivals and departures a year with the help of these equipments generating millions of revenue. There are some other revenue sources such as equipment rent and hangar rent. Many a times other ground handling agencies require some of the equipments so they can hire it from us at above mentioned price same in the case of our hangar.

Citizenship Birthright Under Fire

Citizenship Birthright Under Fire Summary During one morning in Washington, DC, Senator Mitch McConnell who is the Senate minority leader, argued with Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina about the 14th Amendment to the Constitution. The 14th Amendment grants citizenship to anymore born in the United States. Graham spoke out saying the Amendment was a mistake because children of illegal immigrants could become citizens if they were born in the United States automatically. He also stated as well as granting legal status to millions of illegal immigrants, he would also amend the 14th Amendment in order to nullify future unauthorized immigration. Republican and Democratic lawmakers were surprised with Graham’s proposal since he was basically the only Republican to negotiate with Democrats to create an immigration overhaul bill. This debate has been centered on the citizenship clause â€Å"All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction th ereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. People against this amendment have argued that illegal immigrants are not under U. S. jurisdiction and therefore America-born children should not be automatically become citizens. The amendment has been practiced since the 1860’s and if the law were changed it would make babies born from Mexican mothers illegally they would become immigrants at birth. Opponents against the amendment say that Mexican mothers would have the babies here in the U. S. so that hopefully the mothers would receive citizenship. The only thing is by law American citizen children must wait until they are 21 years old to apply for legal residency for their parents.About 4 million citizen children have at least one parent who is an illegal immigrant. Even though Graham is pushing to reconstruct the amendment it would be huge political proposition. Opinion I woke up this morning, proud to be an American. I do not usually think w ould if I was born somewhere else or would if my relatives never came over to America? Or even would if the 14th Amendment was never thought of or brought up? I just go about my day as usual. If I really look into it and think about it, if my relatives never came to America, I would not be sitting here in this comfortable chair, typing this paper for my government class. As a matter of fact I, as a human being, would not be here. My grandfather’s roots are from Mexico and my grandmother’s are from Germany. If it was not for the 14th Amendment, they would have not met or have been able to be in this country. People come to America for a better life and opportunity. The U. S. is very diverse with different cultures, religions, and races and yet some people whose ancestors came over here are arguing that it is not fair for other people to have an opportunity to succeed. Yet I sort of see why they are complaining because America gets bigger every year due to people coming o ver
